Inspired by Gen Giles' "All in my head" series, I created a larger scale version, focusing on personal exploration. Mind-mapping Giles' work, I depicted my own thoughts - fantasy, creatures, color, and transgender experiences - on leftover painted fabriano. I framed a photograph of myself and arranged various elements around my head, symbolizing my inner world.
My collage includes a mix of Dungeons and Dragons imagery, transgender articles, and personal memories. From childhood home photos to trans-related articles, I depicted fears, aspirations, and struggles. Heraldic symbols, fantasy characters, and album covers illustrate my thoughts and passions.
Though satisfied with the result, feedback suggested adding depth and texture. Despite feeling a bit disjointed, I appreciate the learning experience and look forward to further exploration in future projects.
